Class Information

Grafton Center Playschool serves children ages 2.9 years old to five. We offer the following sessions:
 
Caterpillar Class

T-Th AM Session: 9:00-11:30 A.M.

Children must be 2.9 years old before September 1st of the year of enrollment.

 
Butterfly Class
M-W-F AM Session: 9:00-11:30 A.M.   
Children must be 4 years old by November 30 of the year of enrollment.

 

Beetle Class
T-W-TH-F PM Session: 12:30-3:00 
Children must be 4 by September 1st of the year of enrollment.
 
 
 

Optional lunch bunch is offered to students in the Butterfly and Beetle classes, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Children may stay Monday for AM class or arrive early Wednesday for PM class. Students will continue class activities and have lunch with a teacher.

ARRIVAL                                                                                     

 

MEETING TIME: weather graph, attendance, finger plays, stories, group science activities,

                          introduce special activities in centers.

                 

INDEPENDENT LEARNING: Children choose activities from the following learning centers:

                                                Art

                                                Blocks/Carpentry

                                                Library Corner/Listening Center

                                                Manipulative Center

                                                Dramatic Play

Sand or water table

Discovery Center (nature/science)

Writing/Computer Center

 

           

CLEAN-UP: Rhythm Sticks are played while “Tick-Tock” song is sung. Children put away toys and materials.Children wash their hands at either the bathroom or kitchen sinks.    

                                                           

SNACK: children take turns passing out cups and napkins; pour their own juice; practice table manners and socialization skills. Snack is provided by the school.  

 

GREEN RUG ACTIVITY: Children may choose from library books, or writing activities while classmates finish snack.

 

                                                                          

OUTDOOR PLAY: Children select from climbing activities, balls, hoops, sand, bikes, and other child-initiated activities.

                            If the weather is inclement, music and movement occurs inside.

 

PICK-UP AND PREPARE TO GO HOME: Sing “Good-bye” song and dismiss to parent or authorized person.

 

OPTIONAL LUNCH BUNCH: Lunch and free play
